Rotto event makes world surfing double for WA

Western Australia will create history in May when it hosts two world surf events in the same year after Tourism Western Australia secured a one-off World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour event at Rottnest Island. The 12-day Rip Curl Rottnest Search will be held at Strickland Bay from May 16-26. The event will follow the world-famous Boost Mobile Margaret River Pro, which has been a World Championship Tour event since 2014 and attracts the world’s top professional surfers. Tourism WA recently locked in a three-year deal with the WSL for the Margaret River Pro to remain in WA until 2024. Global broadcast of the event will give valuable exposure to our State as a leading surf and adventure travel destination. Read more on our corporate website.

Jobs Connect event back

Tourism WA collaborated with StudyPerth to deliver the second International Students Job Connect event on Tuesday. The event helped address a shortage of workers in tourism and hospitality by connecting prospective employers with international students who are living in WA and looking for work. Prospective employers talked to students about their businesses and available opportunities in a ‘speed networking’ format. If you have an employment opportunity, you can list it on the StudyPerth website. More information about the event is available on our website.

2021 events calendar out now

Tourism WA’s events calendar is now available on our corporate website, featuring a range of sporting, arts, culinary and cultural events held across WA in 2021. The calendar includes Tourism WA-sponsored events, as well as other events taking place around the State. Events are an important part of our tourism strategy because they encourage people to travel around the State, add extra tourism dollars and vibrancy to communities, and attract media attention which helps promote WA. To view the calendar, or to find out more about funding opportunities and how we can help promote your event, visit our corporate website.
