Talk about a famous family! While Lakpa Rita Sherpa’s accomplishments and skills are climbing lore, a huge congrats to his brother Kami, who just sumitted Everest for the 22nd time. Yes, that is the record! Many of you know Kami from our Everest climbs and Nepal expeditions and we send a huge congrats to Kami for this monumental achievement!
Mera Peak and Lobuche
with Vern Tejas
We are pleased to announce that we will be climbing Lobuche as part of our Island Peak program and a nice new addition and the chance to summit two Himalayan peaks on one expedition. This climb takes place after our hike to Everest Base Camp which explores the wonderful monastic communities of the Khumbu - culture and climbing at its finest. Want something more remote? Mera Peak this fall should top the list of fantastic adventures as we trek through the secluded and beautiful valleys and make our way to Mera Peak for a summit attempt taking us to 21,247 feet. All climbs are an excellent opportunity for those with basic mountaineering skills to take on high altitude Himalayan climbing.
Bhutan Trekking with Ben Jones

With limited visitors each year, Bhutan is the pristine Himalayas of yesterday and an overwhelming journey to this rugged region. This will be a small group departure with Everest Guide (among other feats) Ben Jones guiding this trip once again. More at Bhutan Trek – Lasa- Gaya Trek

Trekking in Nepal, India, and Peru and beyond…
Whether you fancy the rugged and remoteness of Bhutan and the Indian Himalayas or enjoy the fluid beauty of Peru’s mountains and meditative ruins, trekking is truly the fuel for those who like to challenge both body and mind. All Alpine Ascents treks are meticulously researched and are the types of endeavor where a world class guide can make the difference in ensuring a rewarding experience. Each trek has a scheduled date but we often can take small private groups or families for about the same price. These treks are certainly our Program Director's labor of love. Training is a big question for most climbers and climbers-to-be, and of course no definitive answer expected…find the routine that works for you. Of course you will need to get that pack on your back and daily work will show rewards far better than an every few day regime. While we create training regimens for each trip (here is a sample from our Baker climb: https://www.alpineascents.com/climbs/mount-baker/training/), we are happy to chat with every climber about their personal needs (and where they can train) as well as discuss the benefits of a personal trainer. Questions? contact our Director of Programs Gordon at gjanow@alpineascents.com
June and July may be full but we still have room for privates and scheduled climbs in August. Want to learn more about climbing Mt. Baker? Check out this fine article by renowned Mountain Journalist Peter Potterfield on our Baker page (Baker vs Rainier)
