Welcome Back Jessup Parents!

The 2017-18 school year is well underway! Students are settling in, the weather is changing and the campus is alive with activity. We look forward to serving you and your families and hope that you will use our department as a resource to make the most of your time here!

A Message from Dave Heitman - Dean of Students

Student Life exists to champion the student experience by creating holistic programs and Christ-centered learning environments. These opportunities create spaces for students to experience the best of collegiate life within a community focused on glorifying God. We desire students to be encouraged and challenged, supported and stretched, and to grow in new appreciation of God, others, and themselves. Some of these opportunities include:

  • Programs designed to integrate faith and learning both in and outside the classroom through spiritual formation, discipleship, diversity, community, and wellness
  • Intentional First Year Experience and Spiritual Formation Group opportunities to help build meaningful community
  • Cheer on our competitive collegiate athletics program as we rise up as ONE WARRIOR
  • Respond to God's mission both locally and globally through Jessup’s Outreach program

Our faculty and staff seek to model with students what it means to participate in Christian community. The WJU Community Covenant outlines the university’s expectations of all its members, and the Student Handbook establishes the behavior policies and conduct process for our students. We encourage you to review and discuss the Student Standards of Conduct and other campus policies online. You are invited to contact the Student Life Office should you have any questions, please email studentlife@jessup.edu

As a community, we are excited to pursue God through this year’s chapel theme, “In His Image.”  The Bible reveals that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of our Creator (Psalm 139:14) and our God desires for everyone to grow and mature into the likeness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).  We invite students to engage God’s heart for the world through serving in Jesus' name, participating in a local and global outreach team, and discover God’s unique call for each of our lives. We pray each student will encounter God in our community of faith, hope, and love this year.

A Message from Paul Ybarra - Director of Campus Safety

In our continuing effort to foster a safe and secure environment for all of our community members, we continue to evaluate and improve our emergency response plan and communication systems. In the event of a crisis, such as an active shooter, building fire, chemical leak, bomb threat, weather-related hazard or other potential violence from individuals, WJU has developed an Emergency Action Plan that is available to all faculty, staff and students. The WJU Emergency Action Plan or (EAP) is available to view HERE

We take pride in maintaining a safe and secure campus environment for all. Our goal is to minimize the incidence of crime and injury. Please help us by reporting anything that may not seem right to you, no matter how trivial you may feel it is. If you see something, say something. Personal safety does not begin and end with our department. If you have any comments or suggestions please feel free to email me at pybarra@jessup.edu

“Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 82:3-4

Get Involved - Parent Committee and Prayer Network

We are looking for parents who are interested in partnering with the University to further support the success of their students and the development of the Parent Relations Department. There are two ways you can get involved.

(1) Parent Prayer Network: Remotely join with other parents to pray for our students, the campus and our community. Each month you will receive an email with a theme for the month and a list of prayer requests that have been submitted by fellow parents.

(2) Parent Committee: Looking to get involved on campus? Our Parent Committee meets every other month to plan events and discuss the needs of students.

If you are interested in either of these groups please click HERE to sign up. Thank you in advance for your consideration!
