Bishop Debbie gave the Presidential Address, and there was a presentation from our Diocesan Safeguarding Officer on the Safeguarding Audit. Bell ringers from the Daventry Young Ringers represented the Peterborough Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers at a regional young ringers event. The event was a chance to meet other young ringers from across the country and to experience ringing on different bells. Flynn Spires, team conductor, shares the team’s experience of the day. Our Diocesan Year of Prayer focuses on prayer to support the enrichment of the spiritual wellbeing of our parishes and communities. TKC provides an opportunity for all of us to join together in praying for others to know Jesus between Ascension and Pentecost. 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of this global movement of prayer whose theme this year is the Lord's Prayer.
The county of Rutland was celebrated at a service in Peterborough Cathedral on 2 March, attended by High Sheriff of Rutland, Richard Cole and Lord-Lieutenant of Rutland, Sarah Furness alongside distinguished guests including members of the local military, schools, councils and judiciary. The Bishop of Peterborough, Debbie Sellin, gave the homily celebrating the many unique features of the county. Since 2023 the schools' team at St Peter’s Church, Weston Favell have been working with Weston Favell CE Primary School to consider the representation of Christian values in Shakespearean plays. This year the team worked with children to consider Henry V and bring faith and the themes of the play together to reflect on the play but also their own lives too. It is with great sadness that we record the death of Frank Smith who passed away on Sunday 9 March. Antonio Salieri's Requiem Sunday 13 April, 4-5pmA performance by The Cantus Choir at St Mary's Church, Ketton accompanied on the organ by Thomas Keogh. The performance will be preceded by a short talk given by the choir's director, Alwyn Pollard.
