mobile beauty service

Bring the beauty experts to you

I Do Beauty Co. is a new portable beauty business from well-known Toronto makeup artist Janine Holmes. A former M.A.C. trainer who’s also done lots of film and TV work, Holmes launched her business in January, and contracts out a dream team of top hair and makeup artists to come to your home to get your whole bridal party all dolled up. In addition to hair and makeup, the company also offers other on-location beautifying services, like spray tans, mani-pedis and pre-wedding trials—limiting the number of salon trips you and your bridesmaids will have to make in the weeks leading up to the celebration. For brides, hair and makeup starts at $150 each when booked with the rest of your bridal party (to upgrade to airbrush makeup is an extra $40 per person).

doughnut cones

Serve super-hyped doughnut cones

Eva’s Original Chimneys (not to be confused with the city’s other Eastern European dessert truck Chimney Stax) is the food truck behind this summer’s doughnut cone craze. The decadent desserts, also known as Hungarian chimneys, are made with a vegan dough that’s baked on the spot on the truck’s rotisserie grill. They’re lined with Nutella, stuffed with ice cream from Belleville shop Reid’s Dairy and topped with a ton of sweet and savoury goodies. Options range from simple Apple Pie (soft serve with house-made apple preserves topped with cinnamon) to over-the-top Dennis the Menace (soft serve with Nutella, butter toffee crumble, salted caramel brownie bits and chocolate sauce). Needless to say, scoring the truck for your big day is bound to impress every kind of guest.

bridesmaid dresses

Outfit your bridesmaids at this online shop

By Catalfo, a line of made-to-order dresses and robes from designer Sarah Catalfo, is a one-stop-shop for cute custom looks that are guaranteed to please even your pickiest bridesmaids. This summer’s collection of bridesmaid dresses, with pretty pastel hues and flattering strapless necklines, strike just the right balance between classic and whimsical. The company's silk getting-ready robes and lacy kimonos also make cute (and very affordable—they can be less than $100) bridesmaid gifts. You can host a cupcake- and mimosa-fuelled fitting party to try everything on at once and partake in a fun photoshoot (because let’s be real: how the dress looks in photos is really all that matters).

insane desserts

Order absolutely insane desserts

Petit Potato, an Asian restaurant that just opened at Finch and Leslie, has a roster of out-of-control desserts that make it worth the trek. One of its most popular dishes is the mouth-watering custard toast, which comes topped with toasted marshmallows (we dare you to look at this without drooling). Other desserts are also based off its signature stacks of toast, but look more like wacky-yet-delicious science experiments (case-in-point: this delightfully melty mango toast, that stands almost 10 inches high). For more of the restaurant’s extreme creations, which can take a wedding sweet table from standard to standout, check out the extensive takeout menu here.
