Ferguson Replacement Project update

Additional traffic lanes update
Fluor Corporation continues work on constructing an additional traffic lane on the east side of Ferguson Road, running from FM 2147 to Fluor’s construction entrance. The total length of the additional lane will be a little less than a mile.

LCRA also has begun work to construct an additional lane on the west side of Ferguson Road from FM 2147 to Fluor’s construction entrance.

Both traffic lane additions are scheduled to be completed before school starts in August.

The additional lanes will help limit potential traffic challenges for the project's neighbors during construction. LCRA will provide updates through this e-newsletter about additional plans and activities as construction proceeds.

See photos of the plant construction site
Fluor is beginning to install the new power plant’s underground infrastructure. Click here to see a construction photo of the site taken from the boilers of the existing Thomas C. Ferguson Power Plant. Photos will be added as construction continues, so check back occasionally to see the progress.

Fluor began preconstruction activities in spring 2012. The project schedule includes a two-year construction phase to bring the new power plant on-line in 2014.

Emergency response drill
Local emergency responders and staff from the Thomas C. Ferguson Power Plant conducted an emergency response drill on July 16. The training exercise provided the first responders with hands-on training in technical rescues and allowed them to test all aspects of an emergency, including the use of a nearby helipad where an air evacuation helicopter would need to land. Click here to watch a short video about the full-scale drill.

New north gate entrance
Ferguson plant visitors now enter the existing Thomas C. Ferguson Power Plant through the secured new north gate entrance that is located past the previous main entrance. Fluor’s construction site entrance is about a quarter of a mile down Ferguson Road from FM 2147.

Employment information
Fluor will be building the new plant until early 2014. Its project team will work directly with Texas Workforce Solutions to fill some of the local hiring needs. Fluor is unable to accept employment applications onsite, so please contact Fluor Craft Services at (888) 782-3363 for employment opportunities.
