VENICE, CA, April 10, 2013: Launching today, Color Blocking graphics by Mina Javid x Blik are designed to influence more space than a single, flat wall. Envision large panels of color that can organically grow into a piece of art on a wall or wrap around a corner or ceiling.
“We loved Mina’s initial question of what happens when color and forms come together; the answer is something very cool,” said Scott Flora, Blik co-founder. “Taking simple forms and shapes in color coordinated shades allows the consumer to layer and build on a dramatic scale.”
What’s Color Blocking?
In the simplest form, it's the composition of color groups that both support and complement each other. Javid thinks spatially and envisions color blocking as a tool to create vibrant, livable spaces.
“I was interested in the opportunity to design a line that would allow anyone to reimagine their space in a way that's as striking as it is fun. Color Block Parallel and Color Block Slant can dramatically change a space and transform the feeling of a room through the use of bold, overlapping colors which can engage walls, ceilings and floors,” said Javid, an LA-based architect and designer.
“The new line will resonate with those of us who grew up playing with LEGOS and colored blocks. You can follow the directions and make exactly what's on the package or take it to another level and create your own design," continued Javid.
“We want people to take a chance, have fun and play with the existing angles and lines throughout their home,” added Flora.
Products: Color Block Parallel & Color Block Slant
Color blocking is available in two sets: Color Block Parallel and Color Block Slant. Each set comes in four different color combinations, all of which complement one another. The line is designed to be mixed and interlocked. The Color blocking collection is a new direction and category for Javid's existing line that launched at Blik in 2009.
How to Color Block:
Color Block wall graphics are simple and fun to apply. The instructions include design ideas that will get you started, and the real fun begins as you allow the overlapping forms to flow based on the unique lines of your space. There are so many possibilities; it is hard NOT to create something beautiful with this line. Invite a friend or two over and turn the installation into an event. There are no rules, no right or wrong way to install, just a sense of adventure and willingness to push the boundaries.
