Measure B NewsletterThis newsletter is to help inform our Marin Community College District community of the District’s progress on the implementation of the voter‐approved Measure B bond. Resolution No. 2020-05 Designating Essential Function Public Works Projects
- The Health Officer of the Marin County Department of Health Services issued a "stay at home" Order 20-04 on March 31, 2020, which placed additional restrictions on Construction Projects.
- Having received that order, District staff evaluated the list of Measure B projects and prepared an analysis for all projects and reviewed with legal counsel and senior staff.
- Letter from the Superintendent/President was sent to contractors on April 6, 2020 which provides a list of projects that could continue as "essential government functions".
- A Board Resolution (No. 2020-05) was prepared to ratify this initial determination.
Bolinas Marine Laboratory
Status Update: - Submitted project for County of Marin Planning Review on December 13, 2019
- Received initial Planning Department review comments on January 10, 2020
- Community EIR and Project follow up meeting held on March 2, 2020
- Geotechnical preliminary report in process to meet Planning request
- Architectural Historian report in process to meet Planning request
- Resubmission to County of Marin Planning Department estimated to be by May 25, 2020
New Learning Resources Center Building | Kentfield Campus
Project Summary: Demolition of existing and construction of new Learning Resource Center building Status: - Architect transitioning from the programming/planning phase to the conceptual design phase
- A community input survey was distributed to gather responses from the community. The District is planning to host an in-person town hall meeting once the stay-at-home order is lifted.
- District Staff evaluating building estimates and have given direction to architect which has resulted in a max building size of 85,000 gross square feet (GSF)
- Exterior Abatement & Demolition expected Summer 2020
- Anticipated DSA submittal for new building by March 2021
Environmental Impact Report (EIR) Meetings: - District conducted 6 EIR meetings prior to publication of the Draft EIR (4 onsite meetings & 2 Zoom meetings)
- Consultant incorporated the questions and provided responses to the comments received by the public and California Department of Fish & Wildlife
- Draft EIR is out for review with the 45-day review period starting on April 3, 2020 and review ending on
May 18, 2020
- Tentative schedule for EIR Certification by the Board of Trustees is scheduled for the June 16, 2020 Board meeting
Admin Cluster - Building 12 Renovation | Indian Valley Campus
Project Summary: Renovation to create café and student spaces Status: - Occupants have vacated
- Abatement work complete
- Interior demolition complete
- Interior design in
review
- Further site and/or related demolition work put on hold due to latest stay at home order
Projects currently under construction:
Jonas Center and Building 18 | Indian Valley Campus
Project Summary: Event facility to seat 300 people, includes a catering kitchen, a prep kitchen, stage and meeting rooms Status: - Interior finishes and exterior stucco ongoing through May 2020
- Hardscape and paving will progress through June 2020
- Testing and punch list will proceed through July 2020
- Project proceeding
with restrictions per Resolution authorizing certain Measure B projects to proceed under new stay at home order
New Miwok Center - Aquatic & Fitness Center | Indian Valley Campus
Project Summary: Construction of a multi-purpose aquatic fitness facility, with flexible work-out spaces, dance studio, classroom, locker rooms, and offices Status: - Underground water, gas, storm drain and electrical utility installation in April - May 2020
- Drill and place dive tower piers in April - May 2020
- Structural steel columns and beams in May - June 2020
- Further site work put on hold
Maintenance & Operations Building and District Warehouse | Kentfield Campus
Project Summary: District Warehouse and Facilities Administration Building Status: - Punch list (storage building and admin building interior finishes) in May 2020
- Landscaping and paving scheduled for May 2020
- Adjacent site work and fire lane in Summer 2020
- Project proceeding per Resolution authorizing certain Measure B projects to proceed under new stay at home order
Fusselman Hall: Structural and Waterproofing Improvements | Kentfield Campus
Project Summary: Structural and waterproofing improvements Status: - Interior finishes will be complete in May 2020
- Exterior landscaping and punch list in June 2020
- Project proceeding per Resolution authorizing certain Measure B projects to proceed under new stay at home order
Learning Resources Center (LRC): Temporary Campus Bookstore | Kentfield Campus
Project Summary: Renovation of existing Maintenance & Operations building for use as the temporary campus bookstore during demolition of the LRC Status: - Interior finishes completed in April 2020
- Store relocated to new space in April 2020
- Project proceeding per Resolution
authorizing certain Measure B projects to proceed under new stay at home order
