Have You Renewed Your Forum Membership?

Calling all Forum members! It’s time to renew your Forum membership.

DMTF Forums pursue specific works of interest to a subset of DMTF members. Participating in Forums allows member companies to benefit by uniting with other members to share the costs of joint initiatives and together succeed in their stated mission. Forum memberships are granted at the company level, allow an unlimited number of member company representatives to participate in Forum activities, and result in valuable privileges not available to DMTF members at large.

The ongoing work of DMTF Forums continues to evolve and focus on current industry needs. The Common Diagnostic Model Forum (CDM) is creating diagnostic instrumentation that enables integration of diagnostics into critical management functions. Through CDM Conformance Programs, the CDM Forum is providing solutions for interoperability validation to help drive adoption and implementation of system diagnostics.

The System Management Forum (SMF) develops programs that verify the conformance of implementations to DMTF system management standards for desktop and mobile systems (DASH) and servers (SMASH).  The programs include delivering conformance test suites (CTS) and hosting interoperability plugfests. DASH CTS 1.0 is currently available to DMTF members. The SMF is in the process of developing the next versions of CTS’s for DASH and SMASH. Most recently, the SMF has released the beta version of the next DASH CTS to SMF members.

The Scalable Platforms Management Forum (SPMF) is working to create and publish an open industry standard specification and schema that meets the expectations of end users for simple, modern and secure management of scalable platform hardware. Just last month, SPMF released Scalable Platforms Management API (SPMA) Specification, Schema, and Mockup, version 0.95, as Works in Progress.

Membership in the DMTF does not automatically grant membership to a Forum. Fees and dues separate from DMTF membership are required for each forum. Non-members are encouraged to join DMTF to become a part of this important work.

DMTF Releases CIM 2.43.0

The DMTF recently published the latest release of the Common Information Model (CIM) Schema, version 2.43.0.  This widely used standard provides a common definition of management information for systems, networks, applications and services, and allows for extensions.

As part of CIM 2.43.0, a number of enhancements and additions are introduced throughout the Schema, including ongoing improvements to support product and alliance partners and to support DMTF Profiles and Management Initiatives.

Visit the DMTF website to learn more about CIM, and to download the .zip files for the latest version as well as individual UML Diagrams, visit the CIM Schema, version 2.43.0 page.
