Terroir / Region: The Rheinhessen region of Germany has been growing Grauburgunder (a.k.a. Pinot Grigio/Gris) for hundreds of years. In this bottling, we see the influence of the lighter Italian style of the grape rather than the richer, sometimes sweeter, German style. Bordered by the Rhine and Nahe rivers as well as the Haardt mountains, the Rheinhessen is known as the ‘land of the thousand hills’ and is the perfect place for growing grapes to make a clean, refreshing Pinot Grigio.
Producer: Dachshund wines were born out of a passion for dachshund dogs (of course) and quality German wine. Brett and Debra Halby’s love for their rescued Dachshund dogs provided the inspiration, and through a partnership with the Moselland Co-Op, the famed vineyards of the Rheinhessen in Germany provided the wine. The Halbys find that supporting the work of dachshund rescues and breed enthusiasts is the most rewarding part of the Dachshund Wines mission.
