Alumni spotlight: Jack Dadam '65

Jack Dadam '65

Jack Dadam '65 is the man responsible for bringing Red Bull, the country's highest-selling energy drink, to the United States in 1997. For the next 10 years, he helped the company come up with some of its adrenaline-inducing publicity stunts that took product marketing to a whole new level — and now he even enjoys some extreme sports himself.

Read about Dadam — and his Tau Kappa Epsilon brother Dick Arroyo '64, who also got involved in Red Bull after serving as a high-level executive at Playboy Entertainment Group, MTV Latino and Philips — in this story from the next Eastern Illinois Alumni magazine.

Share your memories of Old Main's iconic oak tree

The mostly barren historic oak tree next to Old Main is pictured June 8, 2012, at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

The oak tree, which might have sprouted even before the Revolutionary War, has been a part of many EIU students' memories. We want to hear yours.

Please send your Old Main oak tree stories and photos to alumeiu@eiu.edu. We'll share some of them in a future newsletter, and one entry will win a copy of "Eastern Illinois University Centennial," the 1995 special-edition book that chronicles the first 100 years of EIU.
