When was the last time you looked through the eyes of a potential employee to experience what it's like to apply for a job at your organization? I did just that this week and was frustrated to see the number of forms and detail required to apply for a job. I have no doubt numerous candidates have given up and not applied because of the process. I then looked around to see what the experience looked like for other industry organizations. I was pleasantly surprised with the application process at CommuniCare, a large provider in the mid-Atlantic region. All they require to apply for a job is a name, email, and phone number. Elevate your leadership This morning's insight is quick to implement, impactful, and supports a servant leadership culture. It's something I learned early in my career and never failed to make a cheerful splash in the community. Here are the steps Stop on your way to work this morning and grab a bag of Hershey kisses or mini candy bars. Set aside 45 minutes or so this morning and head to the floor. Partner with a few caregivers and ask them if you can follow their morning routine and make the resident's beds, to take that task off their plate. Make some beds and when appropriate, leave the resident a piece of chocolate on their pillow. Bring in other members of your leadership team in the upcoming days and make a goal to go through the entire candy bag over the next week. Your caregivers will appreciate it. Your residents will love it. The little spontaneous acts of kindness express the most memorable gratitude.
