Congratulations MYAN WA!

MYAN WA has been selected as one of the finalists for the Outstanding Commitment to Citizen Empowerment Award in this year’s Community Services Excellence Awards.

Winners will be announced at the Gala Ceremony and Dinner on Wednesday 4 May 2016, 7.00pm to 11.00pm at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Applications Now Open!

Shout Out is a leadership program for young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds designed to enable young people to speak up for themselves and share their experiences and views on a range of topics with a variety of audiences.

It provides an opportunity for inspiring young people to develop skills in public speaking and media relations on topics they feel passionate about.

Open to young people aged 18-25 from migrant or refugee backgrounds, who:

  • Want to share their experiences and opinions
  • Are passionate about migrant and refugee youth issues
  • Want training in public speaking and media relations
  • Are available for speaking opportunities during business hours
  • Want to build their public and professional profile
  • Applications close Friday 29th April 2016

Multiculturalism on the Footy Field!

Children from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds are developing a passion for Australia's national sport thanks to the West Australian Football Commission's Welcome to AFL program.

The program, supported by the State Government, aims to promote engagement between CaLD youth, football clubs and schools.

The Welcome to AFL program has received funding from the Office of Multicultural Interests' Community Grants Program During 2016, the program will deliver more than 20 activities and events across WA

Refugee Welcome Day!

City of Stirling is celebrating contributions of people from refugee backgrounds. This event will also promote cultural diversity and will be celebrated through exciting cultural activities and performances.

Research

Research on refugee youth

Mental health service providers (both registered or workers with at least two years experience with refugee youth) are needed as participants for a Psychology research study. The study focuses on the impact of shame on the well-being of refugees. A Clinical Psychology Masters student Karee Stewart will conduct the study under the supervision of Murdoch professors.
