Wine of the Weekend

Hopes End Red Blend 2016

Breathe in… breathe out. Breathe in… breathe out. Thanksgiving is over and hopefully the clean-up is too. You may have hosted the party or travelled to it, brought the side dish everyone devoured or the dessert that was passed over, but for now, you can just relax. This week we have chosen a wine to help you do just that: something smooth, rich and easy drinking. Isn’t that exactly what we need right now?

Tasting Notes: A blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Malbec and Petit Verdot, Hopes End explodes from the glass with notes of blackberry and raspberry jam, vanilla, spicy oak and dark chocolate, all with a smooth and balanced delivery.

Enjoy With: Grilled red meat (of course you are still barbecuing!), pizza, all your favourite pastas and strong cheeses.

Style: A full-bodied, fruity, red wine.

Terroir/Region: The grapes that make up Hopes End grow strong and robust in the heartland of South Australia’s vineyard regions. Bright, warm summers and deep sandy loam over limestone soils ensure the vines flourish to produce intensely flavoured, perfectly ripened grapes.

Producer: A young doctor took his family on a treacherous journey to the other side of the world. He hoped for a better life, and yet at the end of his voyage found only lawlessness, squalor and vice. Hope had brought them here, and so they called this new and strange place Hopes End. Hopes End winery celebrates the courage of those willing to go on a voyage of uncertainty. The wine’s journey also begins in hope yet ends with the darkness and depth of a bold Australian red.
