New U.S. Law Requires Sesame Labeling on Packages by 2023

A new measure signed into law by President Joe Biden mandates that sesame be labeled as an allergen among the ingredients of packaged foods, making it the first addition to the allergen list since 2004. The FASTER (Food Allergen Safety Treatment Education and Research) Act requires that sesame be included on labels by the beginning of 2023, joining wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, milk and eggs on the allergen disclosure list.
