The European lighthouse cities Vienna, Munich and Lyon as well as the follower cities Santiago de Compostela, Sofia and Venice come together in order to improve the quality of life of their citizens. Below you will find updates on the development of co-created and replicable Smart City solutions in 5 concrete areas– citizen engagement, district heating & renewable energy, holistic refurbishment, smart data and e-mobility. From Smarter Together Munich Munich Introduces First Smart E-mobility StationFour new e‑mobility stations in Munich's model smart city district of Neuaubing-Westkreuz have now gone into service. For the first time, the stations provide all of local transport utility MVG's modular e‑mobility offerings. For more details on the station and the types of mobility solutions introduced, click here. From Smarter Together Lyon District Heating Extension Continues in Lyon ConfluenceOver the summer, the continuous development of the district heating system has been making steady progress in Lyon Confluence. From Smarter Together Vienna Gathering Outputs from Smart Data in ViennaThis summer, Smarter Together along with UIV (Urban Innovation Vienna) held a first harvesting workshop in order to ensure sustainable roll out and replication of the recently completed second pilot project phase of Vienna’s Data Platform. Vienna's SIMmobil heads to GeiselbergFrom 4 to 30 July 2018, the SIMmobile, which is the Urban Living Lab of Smarter Together that is run by Vienna’s Urban Renewal Office, was stationed for the first time in the urban neighbourhood of Geiselberg. Upcoming Events 25-27 September - Stavanger, Norway Nordic Edge Expo is a three day conference and exhibition covering Smart City topics like mobility, education, health, energy and renewables, governance, infrastructure, architecture, media, art, and safety. The conference will also include a half-day workshop on the topic of citizen engagement in European Lighthouse projects. 5 October - Brussels, Belgium The Horizon Energy info day will present the upcoming funding opportunities offered by the EU's Horizon 2020 Programme to projects focusing on smart energy systems and smart cities and communities concepts. European Week of Regions and Cities 8-11 October - Brussels, Belgium The European Week of Regions and Cities is an annual four-day event during which cities and regions showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement European Union cohesion policy, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance. News From #EUSmartCities Sister Projects GrowSmarter to Host Webinar on IoT and Industry 4.0On 18 September at 9:00 AM, fellow SCC1 project GrowSmarter will be hosting a webinar sharing lessons learned from Stockholm, Barcelona, and Cologne on the topics of IoT and Indsutry 4.0. New Energy Storage Tanks for DresdenAlong with the collaboration of SCC1 project MatchUp, new storage tanks have been installed at the innovation power plant in Dresden, which represents a great improvement and more optimized operation of the district heating network and the power plants.
