This grape shines in certain regions of Austria, and this week’s wine just happens to come from one of those regions. Tasting Notes: This 100% Grüner Veltliner (Groo-ner Velt-leen-er) boasts lots of pear and citrus notes along with a white pepper spiciness and mineral note which are hallmarks of the good stuff when it comes to Grüner. A tangy freshness and lingering finish will make this your go-to white wine for the rest of the summer!

Terroir/Region: Grüner Veltliner represents one of every three vines grown in Austria, and the Kremstal DAC, where this week’s wine comes from, is one of the three heartlands of Grüner in Austria. The Kremstal region has been divided by producers by soil type, so producers can blend and fine tune their wines based on the characteristics shown in each soil, creating intense, balanced wines which are refreshing and very food friendly.
Producer: Winzer Krems lies at the gateway to the historic region of Wachau, a World Heritage cultural site. The estate consists of 962 winegrowers with properties covering 990 hectares or 2450 acres, and nearly the entire harvest is done by hand! Each harvest is sorted by location, quality and grape type in order to produce small volumes from specific sites or higher volumes of top quality regional blends.
