CSJ Fringe Events
Conservative Party Conference events 4 - 8 October 2009

Our Conservative Party Conference events start this weekend, with two fringe meetings this Sunday evening at the Jurys Inn, Manchester on Early Intervention and Police Reform.

Highlights of the fringe programme will be three fringe meetings on key policy areas in David Cameron's plans to mend Broken Britain: Family, Education and Welfare Reform. Shadow Cabinet members, top journalists and our best voluntary sector speakers will be at these lively discussions in Manchester Town Hall, so do join us.

All CSJ events are outside of respective secure zones and do not require Conference passes in order to attend, unless specified. You do not need to RSVP for events. Refreshments served at all meetings.

DYNAMIC BENEFITS PUBLIC POLICY BRIEFING
The CSJ hosted a public policy briefing on its welfare reform paper Dynamic Benefits on 23 September at Marsh in Tower Hill in association with Oliver Wyman. Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP, CSJ Chairman, Philippa Stroud, CSJ Executive Director, and Dr Stephen Brien, (pictured) Chairman CSJ Economic Dependency Working Group presented the findings of the report to an audience of 60, including Shadow Ministers, MPs, civil servants, researchers and other think tanks. 

 

 

THE HUMAN COST OF CRIME, CHRIS GRAYLING, TUESDAY 6 OCTOBER 2009, 9.30am
Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling MP is hosting an event at the Conservative Party Conference this year and would like to invite you to participate. The Conference Extra event at the Great Hall, Manchester Town Hall, is on 'The Human Cost of Crime', and will discuss the aftermath of a crime, how it affects its victims and how to help them rebuild their lives.

Panellists include by Gillian Guy, Chief Executive of Victim Support, Jean Smith from Families Fighting for Justice, Mike Jervis from the Damilola Taylor Trust, Linda Lawrence from Kids Count, Helen Newlove, George and Brooke Kinsella and Barry & Margaret Mizen, amongst others. To RSVP call 020 7874 8277.
 

 

CSJ AT THE LABOUR PARTY CONFERENCE
The CSJ co-hosted three events at the Labour Party Conference this week. Pictured is former CSJ Advisor Tim Montgomerie with Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Yvette Cooper discussing how best to beat poverty after the credit crunch along with representatives from Child Poverty Action Group, the Fabian Society and CentreForum. Andrea Leadsom, CSJ Alliance member and Award winner, joined Graham Allen MP and others for a discussion on early years, whilst Ryan Robson, CSJ Director, took part in a roundtable policy discussion on education with the Fabian Society.
