AMA (WA) mourns loss of Dr Harry Nespolon

The AMA (WA) joins the Federal AMA, Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the wider medical community in mourning the sad loss of RACGP President, Dr Harry Nespolon.

 

AMA (WA) President Dr Andrew Miller said Dr Nespolon was a fearless advocate and will be sorely missed across General Practice.

Asbestos containing materials discovered at Osborne Park Hospital

The AMA (WA) wrote to NMHS following reports that asbestos had been identified at Osborne Park Hospital (OPH).

 

The AMA (WA) sought confirmation regarding the discovery of asbestos and express assurances in relation to the health and safety of medical practitioners, healthcare workers and patients at OPH.

 

NMHS Chief Executive Tony Dolan responded to the AMA (WA), confirming that asbestos had been detected and that it was being managed in line with requirements.

The End of Life Care Program within the WA Department of Health is developing a revised Advance Health Directives (AHD) form following recommendations from the 2018 My Life My Choice Report and the subsequent Ministerial Expert Panel report on AHD. 
Health professionals with an interest or involvement in advance care planning are invited to attend a workshop to have their say on the development of the revised WA AHD form.
