Do I believe in magic? - 2012. Powder coated mild steel, painted mild steel, marvec plastic sheeting, Perspex, fittings & fluorescent lighting. 160cm (H) x 300cm (W).
Fiona Mulholland's practice is primarily concerned with making visible oppositional elements of everyday existence. In sculptural works she uses appropriated objects/materials along with universal symbols in order to investigate the tensions between ‘dreams’, ‘fantasy’ and the ephemera of modern living. Currently questioning how we solicit spaces/places of retreat whether physical or psychological, her concern is to make objects which hover between representation, symbolism and formal values.
