User Research Friday San Diego is Coming Up. Also, It's Summer!

URF San Diego

On June 24th, we are bringing User Research Friday down to sunny San Diego. For the first time ever, we'll be presenting the casual half-day conference in southern California with local host, UserFirst . Just like the other URFs, we will have awesome speakers, tasty snacks, and lots of time for schmoozing. We're giving our subscribers a 10% discount - use the code "TOTALGENIUS" - there are still a few tickets left so hurry on up and register now!

Easier Ethnio

Now that the new Ethnio has been out for a month, we've decided to add a Live Twitter Search based on keywords that can intercept and contact potential participants for live research - right from your twitter account. Automatically! So you don't have to put JavaScript on your site at all.

Check it all out here.

Mobile research explosion

We've done quite a bit of field and in-lab mobile research in 2011 so far. There is no way to do remote mobile research, but some great clients are loving our unique field approach. We made a little video about how we do it.

Open your mind, and watch the video here!

Welcome Stephanie & Nicole

Some of you have met our fab new UX researcher, Stephanie Carter, and our Office Superstar, Nicole Bemboom, but we want to officially welcome them!

Stephanie is an expert in behavior change methodologies and persuasive technology, and has worked in ethnography in many capacities - as a designer at ExploraMed, an urban planner at Goody Clancy, and as a resident naturalist for a nonprofit in the jungles of Peru. Stephanie's MA is from the Stanford D-School. Nicole was in-progress in an MFA for Industrial Design at the Academy of Art University, but found they didn't have enough of a focus on digital interfaces. WE DO. She has also worked as a jewelry designer and production assistant. Like to have Stephanie solve your UX question?

We have some fresh stuff out of the oven from Nate and Cyd about false premises and problematic product pages. There's some good advice in there that your mother never told you.

Nate was a national news hero for a few days because of a video he made.

And just a couple weeks ago, he spoke about the latest remote research techniques at Webvisions in Portland. Check out the slides if you missed it!

And at SXSW this year, Nate and Mark Trammell of Twitter gave a popular talk called Stop Listening to Your Customers. Check it out!
