Our vision is to enable people to achieve more for themselves and their communities by raising the standards of English for all

We are committed to building connections between India and the UK that enable us to share our expertise in English language teacher education and development, teaching, learning and assessment. Over the last six years, the British Council has worked in partnership with 12 state governments to train over 8,070 Master Trainers and teacher educators who have provided training for nearly 836,190 teachers.

Teaching for Success Online Conference

The Teaching for Success Online Conference will take place from 5 - 9 October 2016 and is the British Council’s first global online CPD conference for teachers and teacher educators. Send in your speaker proposals by 16 June.

Opportunity to write for a British Council publication

Expressions of interest invited for writing a chapter in a publication which follows up on the very popular Creativity in the English Language Classroom. The submission deadline is 16 June. The content must be based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Young Lives

Young Lives is an international study of childhood poverty following the lives of 12,000 children in Ethiopia, India, Peru and Vietnam over 15 years. Their latest working paper explores the factors affecting the completion of secondary education in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
