All grown up apparently.
It's already 18 years ago that we graduated from the Royal College of Art and in a leap of faith started our own space odyssey in July 2001.
Happy birthday FL@33 – we raise a glass or two – 18 is quite something.

Collaboration — Calendar 2019 type contributionFL@33 was once again invited by Italian paper company Fedrigoni and TM Studio to contribute a visual interpretation – this time of the number 6 for the date:
6 November 2019.
'An opportunity to celebrate different cultural backgrounds by presenting two different ways to show the number three using fingers. My trilingual three-year-old daughter shows the British sign with her left hand and the way most continental European countries do it by including a thumb. Her six fingers also form the FL@33 logo.' Just released: packaging solution for Stereohype designed by FL@33.
2019 marks the year FL@33's sister-company – graphic art label and online boutique Stereohype – is celebrating its 15th anniversary. To mark this milestone we decided to treat our Stereohype customers and ourselves by introducing a superb new way to package our beautiful and growing 1" (25mm) button badge collection.
The elegant new packaging features a foil-blocked hand-printed Stereohype mascot squirrel in fancy rose-gold. The gift boxes look and feel sophisticated, are sustainable and made of matt black cardboard. These new Stereohype gift boxes are now used in various sizes for all online badge orders.
We also redesigned Stereohype's address label stickers to go with the brand-new Pizza-style cardboard boxes that do now protect the new gift boxes with style when they are shipped to Stereohype's international customers around the world.
Soul Boy — Type treatment for sports merchandise brandNew FL@33 work: type treatment for Soul Boy – a soon-to-be-launched merchandise brand for Miragushi Tennis – a fitness business run by tennis coach and personal trainer Marvin Bramble at the at Barbican's Golden Lane Sport and Fitness in London. Colour variants are now being developed, top-quality garments are being sourced and the first Soul Boy range of T-shirts and badges is due to be released later this year...

Latest RCA Secret postcard contributionsFL@33's Agathe Jacquillat and Tomi Vollauschek created three postcard artworks for the annual
exhibition and fundraising event RCA Secret 2018 in London. A selection of Agathe's Road Works photographs joined Tomi's #loadingmuseum postcard contributions: screenshots of news clips with the loading / streaming icons that look like monocles and nose rings or beards positioned on the faces of politicians. Happy accidents frozen in time as one-off art postcards. Funny that these politicians are not exactly known for supporting the Arts but here they are generating money for Royal College of Art students.

Yay! FL@33-commissioned Vaughan Oliver poster featured in his great VO:A publication
Already released last autumn but only recently added to our online archive: We are over the moon that our Stereohype 10th anniversary poster collaboration with Vaughan Oliver made the cut and is prominently featured in the amazing and truly beautiful Unit Editions publication Vaughan Oliver: Archive (two
volumes in slipcase).
We (as FL@33 and Stereohype) had the pleasure to collaborate with this design hero of ours at numerous occasions including the time Vaughan created some badges for Stereohype, a commissioned card for our FL@33 Postcard book and contributions for FL@33's The 3D Type Book.
Did we already mention...?
Please help us spread some button badge love and let friends and family know about Stereohype's fun badge design competition (Deadline 9/9/2019). #STBBDCYou can find 15th annual Stereohype Button Badge Design Competition info and artwork guidelines here.
B for Bed /// Follow us on Instagram @flat33studio
Shown here: pre-shredder snap of a rejected logo idea from 2005 for a new bed company with a name that started with the letter B. The word Bed... in fact. The potential... The heartbreak... All I'm saying...
Making space for newer work we are clearing our archive. Before we shred print-outs and sketches, rejects, unpublished variants and experiments we will take pictures and post them over on Instagram in the next coming weeks and months. Our Instagram handle is @flat33studio.
