Abu Dhabi-based Manara Center to Support Inclusion, Acceptance
The UAE last month announced the formation of Manara – the Regional Center for Coexistence. Manara was established with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) as a flagship partner to help implement key educational programming.
Based in Abu Dhabi and chaired by H.E. Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi, the Center will promote region-wide coexistence, in line with the UAE’s core values, and create opportunities for cross-cultural collaboration and education.
Ambassador Al Otaiba Highlights UAE’s Commitment to Coexistence at Interfaith Iftar
To mark the holy month of Ramadan, the UAE Embassy in Washington, D.C. welcomed a diverse group of religious, government and civil society leaders to its sixth annual interfaith iftar. In welcoming guests to the event, Ambassador Al Otaiba said, “You reflect the values we share – no matter our different faiths, politics, or nationalities.”
To Mark Earth Day 2023, UAE Embassy Organizes Park Clean-up in Washington, D.C.
As part of Earth Day 2023, the UAE Embassy joined Emirati students from local universities and the team at the Rock Creek Conservancy to clean up DC’s Rock Creek Park. The event promoted environmental awareness and encouraged people to take action to keep their local communities and parks clean. UAE Embassy Diplomat Noura Almazrouei reflects on the experience and the UAE’s legacy of conservationism.

This Month in History
Eight years ago this month, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, invited the UAE public to name the country’s Mars probe. The name Al Amal, or Hope, was selected after thousands of suggestions were received, as it describes the core objective of the UAE’s Mars mission: to inspire and energize young people across the Middle East.
The Hope Probe, which is currently in Mars’ orbit, most recently allowed scientists at NYU Abu Dhabi to create a high-resolution map which displays the Red Planet’s geological features in stunning detail.
