Welcome to the latest issue of Ambassador Matters, our quarterly newsletter about the activities of Convention Edinburgh. The team has had a tumultuous start to 2019 however now that our funding from the City of Edinburgh Council has been confirmed, albeit it reduced, it is full steam ahead with our activities and supporting you to bring conferences to the city.

One of our key ambitions is to future-proof our ambassador community. We are looking for your help to identify and nurture the next generation of Edinburgh Ambassadors. If you would like to get involved please email me to find out more.

'Legends' Spotlight

Convention Edinburgh, with support from our Ambassadors, recently demonstrated the city’s strength in surgery and medicine, as part of VisitScotland’s Legends campaign to promote business events. Discover what makes Edinburgh stand out and how to get in involved.

Event Insurance

Hiscox reminds us of the risk extreme weather poses to conferences and details the importance of event insurance in providing organisers with a level of financial security, protecting against unexpected challenges.

Ambassador Event

The long winter period was punctuated with a networking event on board Edinburgh’s newest, most hotly anticipated venue, Fingal as Convention Edinburgh hosted 39 of the city’s ambassadors.

ICCA World Ranking

Second only to London in the UK in the worldwide ICCA (International Congress & Convention Association) rankings, Edinburgh, has just submitted its highest number of qualifying events in 10 years. The Official 2018 rankings, are released in May 2019.

through creative collaboration

Make It Edinburgh brings together the city’s business tourism sector thanks to six key Partners. It’s an ongoing, collaborative, city-wide campaign to put Edinburgh at the top of the UK’s business tourism rankings – and keep it there.
