The street sweeper comes by every 3 weeks. Finally, Council has been working hard to deliver an extensive footpath upgrade project throughout the Strathfield LGA. Completed projects in February include sections of Hampstead Road, High Street, Juno Parade, The Close and Pemberton St. These upgrades are part of Council’s commitment to improve the safety and appearance of our streets. THROWBACK THURSDAY Composer and Lyricist, Dorothy Dodd (1921-2006) March is Women’s History Month. Today we celebrate the career of lyricist, Dorothy Dodd of 3 Glenarvon Street, Strathfield. Dorothy studied at the Conservatorium of Music and published the first of her many songs, Rainbow of Dreams, aged 20. But she was best known for writing the English lyrics to the popular song, Granada, written by Mexican composer Agustin Lara in 1932. Bing Crosby recorded the song with Dorothy’s lyrics in 1951 and it was also made famous by both Frank Sinatra and Frankie Laine. Wednesday 6 March 2024 Strathfield to Hornsby Rail Closure 9-10 March 2024 Sydney Trains is planning the closure of the Northern Line between Strathfield and Hornsby on Saturday 09 and Sunday 10 March 2024.
