Kingston Three Waters Upgrades Newsletter #9 | December 2025 Updates on work to deliver new water supply, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure in Kingston. Work's wrapped up for 2025
With Christmas one day away and work having finished up in Kingston for the festive season, we’ve detailed some of the recent progress crews have made and what to keep an eye out for in town over the next few weeks. Stormwater outlet gallery Construction of the stormwater outlet gallery is almost done, and you’ll see the area is mostly open to the public. A small part of lakefront will remain fenced off over the holiday period to protect some machinery. The north end of Oxford Street Oxford Street has been sealed between Kent Street and the lakefront. Footpaths and berms will be finished early in 2026, so please take extra care in the area over the next few weeks. The south end of Oxford Street The intersection of Oxford Street and Kent Street has temporary seal in place to help vehicles move through the area and to manage dust, and a subbase has been laid on Oxford Street down towards Dorset Street too. Dorset Street detour closed We’ve closed the Dorset Street detour as material needed for the year ahead has been stockpiled nearby. Please use the intersection of Kent Street to enter and exit the southern end of Oxford Street. What's coming up next year?
You’ll find a quick summary below on what to expect around town when contractors return to work on Monday 5 January 2026. Landscaping will take place around the stormwater outlet gallery, which will include new topsoil, plants, and shrubs around the structure, and the footpath and berms along the northern section of Oxford Street will be reinstated too. Trenching will continue on the southern section of Oxford Street as crews install more of the stormwater main in the area. To complete that work, we’re expecting one lane closures on this stretch of road from late January – at this time the detour via Dorset Street will be reinstated for those that wish to use it. We’ll provide more details on what to expect on Oxford Street in January next year. Merry Christmas!
We’d like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. And thanks for all your patience while crews have been working around town this year. We hope the next few weeks are filled with rest, relaxation, family, friends, and some good weather too! Got a question, or want to raise an issue?
