Senior School NoticesTERM 1 WEEK 1From the Head of Senior SchoolDear valued member of the PLC community, We have had a busy start to 2023 with a Welcome Assembly at which our new Year 7s were piped out, an Academic Recognition Assembly to acknowledge the fantastic achievements of the Class of 2022, featuring a Welcome to Country by Wajuck Noonger Elder and Emeritus Professor, Simon Forrest, and then our Senior School photograph day. At the Welcome Assembly, Principal, Cate Begbie, spoke to our students about wearing their uniform proudly and remembering the traditions of our fantastic school. This year, we start with a strong focus on our uniform and I have been impressed with the standard of uniform we have seen across all year groups. Students with the incorrect uniform will be issued with a uniform infringement. If any student receives three uniform infringements in a term, they will be required to meet with one of our Pastoral and Academic Care Co-ordinators and complete a short duty in the second half of Lunchtime. Your daughter has been spoken to about this process and I know she will do her best to represent the College by wearing her uniform proudly. As our Year 7s adjust, we of course are giving them some leeway as they learn all the rules of the Senior School. Inter-House Swimming Carnival – MondayOn Monday, we will be holding our annual Inter-House Swimming Carnival. It is always a fantastic day with a focus on House spirit and participation. I encourage all girls to have a go, get in the pool, and cheer on their peers. Please be reminded that if parents or guardians are collecting your daughter from HBF Stadium, we ask that you pick them up by 3.30 pm. To help keep your daughter/s safe, we ask that you collect them from inside HBF Stadium where staff will be waiting. We will be transporting any students who have not been picked up by this time to the Boarding House via a PLC bus, for collection. Your daughter has also been reminded to ensure she brings her lunch with her (she will not be able to access the cafeteria and vending machines) and that she will need parent permission in writing if she is required to leave the carnival early or if she is arriving late (please email me at rebecca.watts@plc.wa.edu.au). Thank you for your support with this and I look forward to meeting those of you who are able to attend on the day. Successful First Week for Year 7sI hope our Year 7s have enjoyed their first week in the Senior School. Ms Jane Brandenburg (Year 7 Pastoral and Academic Co-ordinator) has organised a wonderful programme for the week to help the girls settle into the routine of Senior School and to assist them with getting to know each other. Miss Rebecca Watts Rev Nalin's ReflectionsIn the week leading up to the commencement of our new school year at PLC, I found myself reflecting about the very privileged opportunities we have, not only in such a rich educational environment, but also in the life of our nation. We have been very blessed. Important InformationOrdering PhotosYour daughter/s should have received an envelope yesterday at the time their school photo was taken.
