Ed Hardy Park 4pm - 8pm

Hello Everyone,

Time has flown by—it’s hard to believe it’s been over six months since I stepped into this role! I'm genuinely excited to celebrate the beginning of our Christmas season together at the North Burleigh Carols by the Sea on Thursday, December 5. Join us at Ed Hardy Park from 4 pm to 8 pm for an evening of festive fun.

This free family fun event promises to be a wonderful way to embrace the holiday spirit while supporting local talent. Enjoy live music on stage, captivating roving performers, children’s entertainment, delicious food trucks, and festive Christmas market stalls.

Santa will be making a special appearance, and we’ll end the night with a spectacular fireworks display!

As a quick reminder, if you have pets, please ensure they are safe and secure, as the fireworks will begin around 7:45 pm.

Looking forward to celebrating the season with you all!

Changes to the Animal Management

The Queensland Government has recently made changes to the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008 to deliver tougher dangerous dog laws.

The changes were implemented after seeking feedback from the community through formal feedback or completed surveys supporting a tougher approach. The new laws intend to hold irresponsible dog owners accountables.

All dogs must be microchipped and registered from 12 weeks of age or after 14 days of coming into the city to live. Dogs must always wear a dog registration tag when outside their place of residence.

Important points to help keep our pets and the community safe.

• Keep your dog on leash in public unless otherwise signed, this includes leaving and entering vehicles, the water and off leash areas.

• Contain them safely on your property to prevent them wandering.

• Register your dog and keep them identified by a name tag, microchip and registration tag.

Parking on the Gold Coast

With the start of the feastive season approaching let’s visit a Guide to safe and legal parking on the Gold Coast and some common parking tips below.

🚗 Nature strips and footpaths: Motorists must not park any part of a vehicle on a nature strip or footpath. This applies to all vehicles, including motorcycles and unattached e.g., trailers.

🚗 Caravans and trailers (including boat trailers) less than 7.5 metres in total length, are legally able to park on-street so long as they are registered and comply with all other parking regulations.

🚗 A yellow line painted adjacent to the kerb has the same meaning as a No Stopping sign and motorists may not stop or park along that section of road at any time.

🚗 Driveways: any part of a vehicle that is parked in a driveway that blocks a part of the footpath can be fined, this causes children, parents with prams, and elderly to go onto the road to get around the car is deemed unsafe.

🚗 The use of disability parking bays is restricted to vehicles displaying a valid disability parking permit. The original valid permit must be clearly displayed so the permit number and expiry date are visible from the outside of the vehicle.
