Finalists Named in 2021 Awards of Excellence
Updated Friday 23 July: Sorry - we found some errors in our original finalists list. This has now been updated and can be downloaded from our website. Please note, Sydney Northern Beaches Branch winners will be added after their AOE in August.
Event Update: Unfortunately due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the in-person event scheduled to be held at Luna Park, Sydney has been cancelled. Keep an eye on our social media channels and the event page for information on how the awards will be presented this year.

How Instincts Were Behind Major Rescue on Far North Coast
Jason Armbruster thanked his training when he reflected on the events of a beautiful Ballina morning in April, events that would sequentially add up and lay the platform for him to be awarded the Surf Life Saving NSW Rescue of the Month.
DonateLife - Keith Caldwell's Story
Keith Caldwell died as he lived – serving the community. “It’s one last act he could do. Three people are alive because of him,” Keith’s widow Maria said. The family of the much-loved former policeman and veteran surf lifesaver chose to donate his organs and body tissue after he had a stroke and died at RPA’s Intensive Care Unit earlier this year.

2021/22 Pre-season Information Pack
The 2021/22 Pre-season Information Pack is now available to download from the SLSNSW website. The Pack focuses on changes to policies or procedures, links to key reference material to review prior to the season, key tasks to complete before the season starts and key dates to be aware of.
COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility
A reminder that volunteer patrolling members of SLSNSW are eligible for the COVID-19 Vaccine. Visit the SLS Members Area to find out more and to download the Letter and Eligibility Declaration Form. Members do not need to be vaccinated to patrol.
Call for Emergency Services Medal Nominations
Nominations close TOMORROW - Suitably credentialed members are now eligible to be recognised for their outstanding contributions to frontline service, through a nomination for the Emergency Services Medal (ESM).
Annual Compliance Requirements for Clubs and Branches
Clubs and branches must complete the requirements detailed in Circular 3681, by the due dates, to be compliant for the 2021-2022 season and to be entitled to benefits such as receiving fundraising distributions.
Teachers Coastal Education Week
Teachers are invited to the SLSNSW Teachers Coastal Education Week, 18-22 Oct 2021 - a unique week of exciting and free interactive learning, collaboration and expert insights specifically for Primary and Secondary teachers.
2022 Australian of the Year Nominations
Nominations close 31 July for the 2022 Australian of the Year Awards. The Awards provides everyone with the opportunity to recognise any Australian who they admire that inspire us through their achievements and challenge us to make our own contribution to creating a better Australia.
Nominations for Life Membership of SLSNSW
Nominations for Life Membership of SLSNSW are now open. Nominations are to be forwarded via branch by Thursday, 30 September 2021. Successful nominations will be announced at the SLSNSW Annual General Meeting, to be held Friday 5 November 2021.
WIN an IRB Hull for your Club Thanks to Ampol
As one of SLSA’s Major National Partners, Ampol is contributing to our frontline services by giving away two (2) Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Hulls to two (2) deserving Surf Life Saving Clubs. To enter your club into the running, just tell us (in 100 words or less) why your club needs a new IRB hull. Get in quick, this competition will run from Monday 19 July 2021 until Sunday 22 August 2021, with the winners named on Monday 30 August. Good luck!

2021 Sharkskin NSW IRB Championships
The Organising Committee are meeting tonight to discuss the current COVID-19 restrictions and their impact on the 2021 Sharkskin NSW IRB Championships. Further information will be communicated tomorrow in Surf Sports Weekly and via the event page.
24 Hour Row for Mental Health - Postponed
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the 24 Hour Row has been postponed until 30-31 October 2021.
The Burley Griffin Gift - 10km Surfboat Race
Registrations are open for the 10km Burley Griffin Gift Surfboat Race, held 9 October 2021 on the iconic Lake Burley Griffin. Proudly supported by Broulee Surfers Surf Life Saving Club.
SLSA Pool Rescue Championships
Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation, the SLSA Pool Rescue Championships have been rescheduled to October 29-31, at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.
Coolangatta Gold
Early bird entries close next Sunday, 8 August. The endurance event will take place from 16-17 October on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Grants & Fundraising
Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through the Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.

Surf Sports Manager
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Sports Manager will strategically drive the operations and growth of Surf Sports in NSW. Leading the Surf Sports team, this role will be responsible for the development and delivery of a contemporary range of surf sports events and programs.
Senior Surf Sports Competition Coordinator
Reporting to the Sports Manager, the Senior Surf Sports Competitions Coordinator will effectively coordinate the conduct of all SLSNSW Surf Sports events in partnership with the Sports Events Staging Coordinator and appointed Senior Officials.
State Welfare Officer - Volunteer Position
Surf Life Saving NSW is seeking dedicated volunteers to help support the mental welfare of volunteers following incidents that occur whilst performing surf lifesaving duties that may cause psychological harm.

Early Childhood Beach Safety Presenter
Deliver a brand new beach safety show to young children between the ages of 3 and 6. We urge anyone interested to apply but early childhood education experience and knowledge will be highly regarded. Training provided.
Multicultural Beach Safety Presenter
Deliver beach safety and rock fishing safety talks to community groups and diverse audiences in English and your own language both virtually and face to face. We urge anyone interested to apply but those with a strong knowledge and interest in their own culture will be highly regarded. Training provided.
Australian Lifeguard Service NSW - Recruitment Now Open!
With over 330 positions available across 90 locations, the ALS is encouraging surf lifesavers to apply as a means of offering local employment, building stronger relationships with clubs and providing opportunities for club members to develop leadership and lifesaving skills as:
