Read on to discover more about Neighbourhood Centre Week (12-18 May), a nationwide initiative to connect, say thank you, and encourage everyone to celebrate the amazing work of local Neighbourhood and Community Centres and the people who help our communities thrive. This is followed by National Volunteer Week (19-25 May), Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering, highlighting the vital role of volunteers and encouraging new participants. To kick off the festivities, Logan City Council will be hosting The City of Logan Volunteer Awards on Saturday, 17 May 2025. Do you have a story about a centre or a volunteer you'd like to share? Check out their resource pack with printable posters, social media tiles and more, and spread the word! ![]() National Volunteer Week 2025: Connecting Communities National Volunteer Week, Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering, will be held on 19-25 May 2025. You can find a variety of resources for National Volunteer Week, including official logos, campaign posters, customisable certificates, invitations, social media graphics, web and email banners, and printable selfie frames to help promote your events. All organisations that involve volunteers are encouraged to join in and promote the upcoming celebrations. This will help raise awareness about the important role volunteers play in our lives. ![]() OpportunitiesStallholder registrations now open for Fresh Futures 2025 Fresh Futures Expos are free events dedicated for students with disability, to prepare and plan for life after school, and for anyone with a disability looking for a Fresh Future. They provide a unique chance to connect with students with disabilities, their schools, parents, and support teams. Events will be held in Logan, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Redlands, and Ipswich. When: Every Thursday from 24 April to 13 June, 6pm to 8pm. ![]() ConnectCare - supporting victims of non-violent property crime ConnectCare offers free telephone or online appointments for therapeutic counselling and case management to victims of non-violent property crimes across Queensland. The program provides information, advice, and referrals to other relevant organisations when needed. Self-referrals and referrals from service providers are welcome. There is currently no waitlist for this service. Funding OpportunitiesApplications are now open for the Social Enterprise Development Initiative (SEDI) Grants. These grants, administered by Impact Investing Australia and funded by the Department of Social Services, provide up to $120,000 to support eligible social enterprises, including Indigenous-owned or controlled organisations, to help them become more efficient and effective in delivering social benefits to vulnerable Australians. Applications close: December 2025 Expressions of Interest applications are now open for the Advance Queensland - Ignite Ideas Fund. This program supports Queensland small to medium businesses with high-growth potential to commercialise innovative products, processes, or services. Two tiers of funding are available: Tier 1 offers up to $100,000 for projects up to 12 months, and Tier 2 offers up to $200,000 for projects up to 24 months. Successful applicants will also receive additional business development support. Applications close: 10am AEST, 26 May 2025 Applications are now open for the Jimboomba Community Wellbeing Grants. These grants, administered by Brisbane South PHN, offer up to $20,000 (GST exclusive) to local groups and services in Jimboomba, Beaudesert, and Flagstone. The funds aim to support projects that improve mental health outcomes, increase mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and promote community wellbeing. Eligible community groups or not-for-profit organisations can apply. Applications close: 5pm AEST, 16 May 2025 Applications are now open for the Queensland Child Protection Week Grants. These grants offer funding for various initiatives, including Regional Grants of $5,000 (ex GST) for each of the six regional areas of Queensland, Activity Grants of up to $1,000 (ex GST) for non-government organisations, and a $5,000 (ex GST) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Engagement Grant. All funded events must be completed within Child Protection Week, 7-13 September 2025. Applications close: 5pm AEST, 16 May 2025 Applications are now open to eligible organisations for the St. George Foundation Thrive Community Grants. These grants offer up to $50,000 to support the social and emotional wellbeing of children and young people by providing opportunities to connect and participate in community life. The grants are aimed at smaller, local charities that engage with children and young people facing significant barriers to reaching their potential. Applications close: 30 June 2025 Applications are open now for Exceptional Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants, funded by the Queensland Government. These grants are available for primary producers, small businesses, and non-profit organisations affected by Tropical Cyclone Alfred and associated severe weather. Grants of up to $25,000 can be used for clean-up, debris removal, equipment hire, and infrastructure repair. Initial applications can claim up to $5,000, with subsequent applications covering the remaining amount.
