The monthly E-News shares provincial program information and updates about the Facility Engagement (FE) Initiative. This information will be of interest to Medical Staff Association (MSA) support teams, so please feel free to forward the newsletter to your MSA executives as needed. 

Physician Health Program and JCCs Launch Support Initiative for Physician Groups

Physicians are living through challenging times, and in response to the demand for more formal peer support training, the Physician Health Program (PHP) and Joint Collaborative Committees (JCCs) are partnering to offer provincial peer support training to six prototype physician organizations, including Medical Staff Associations, Divisions of Family Practice or hospital departments.

Doctors of BC encourages MSA support teams and executives to share this information with their respective groups, to ensure our members who would like to express their interest have the information they need. Members can read more about the training and register their interest on the Doctors of BC website.

Update to VersaPay Workflow Change

As an update to the recent changes to VersaPay's workflow and the need to call in to verify registration, we have been provided the following instructions for physicians to follow:

• Physicians setting up new VersaPay accounts should contact VersaPay to unlock the ability to enter banking information only after submitting a claim and ensuring that the claim has been approved in FEMS
• This will ensure that VersaPay support will be able to match the caller’s email to an existing claim and validate the user's registration

Upcoming Webinar: May MSA PM Lunch and Learn

Erica Kjekstad, our PM Helpdesk Consultant, will be holding the next PM Lunch and Learn series on May 17th, with the focus on accounting codes, FEMS claims, income statements, and Erica’s top 5 resources. There will also be a guest presentation from an MSA administrator.

FE Financial Reporting: 2021-22 Year End Deadline

Physician Societies ONLY

A reminder to Physician Societies that 2021-22 year-end reporting deadline is May 31, 2022.

Documentation Needed

• An income statement can be accessed from your accounting software. The external financial system report is called the Profit and Loss Report in QuickBooks and the Balanced Income Statement in Sage.
• Providing a balance sheet for financial reporting will not trigger a gate release; it will be used for reporting purposes only. Your accountant can provide a balance sheet as needed to release a gate.   
• If your MSA performs a yearly financial audit, please provide audited financial statements for year-end reporting.

PM Helpdesk Lunch and Learn Library

The FE provincial office, in conjunction with the PM Helpdesk Consultant, Erica Kjekstad, have created a library document of all of the past lunch and learn sessions from 2021.

The 2022 library document is now live and will continue to be updated each month with current information.  The March 2022 session on Getting Ready for Year End, as well as the Challenge Roundtable is included.
