BEST Weekly News and Council video series

Council has partnered with BEST Disability Support to film a series of videos that promote the role of Council in community and reduce stigma of people with disability in our community.

After months of filming and editing, we are pleased to officially launch four video interviews featuring Mayor Jon Raven and local Councillors talking about services including parks, city safety, leisure centres and libraries.

Community Project Grants - apply now for Round 1

Logan City Council is now accepting applications for Round 1 of its Community Project Grants, with funding of up to $10,000 available.

With both Queensland Seniors Month and Queensland Mental Health Week approaching in October 2025, we are encouraging our community to apply for funding to support community projects and programs that foster long term outcomes exclusively for seniors and/or mental health.

Applications must be for activities that begin after outcomes are announced.

Applications close: 1 July 2025

Help improve dementia awareness in South Asian communities

Dementia is becoming more common among South Asian elders, yet awareness and access to support remain limited. La Trobe University and Dementia Australia are inviting South Asian adults (18+) living in Australia to take part in a short, anonymous survey to better understand dementia awareness and experience of accessing care in Australia.

The survey takes 15–20 minutes and is in English, so family members or friends can assist if needed. No dementia experience is required.

🎶 Keyboard accompanist wanted - Logan Dementia Choir

Are you a confident keyboard accompanist who believes music is medicine? Do you enjoy reminiscent music?

Supported by volunteers, the Choir is for people living with a dementia diagnosis and their loved ones and is led by a professional musician and music psychotherapist. 

Choir sessions are held in Bethania on Wednesdays (excluding school holidays) 11:30am to 1:30pm.

A negotiable honorary payment of up to $140 per 2-hour session being offered depending on experience and training. Auditions will be held in June 2025 for a Term 3, 2025 start.

💡 Help with energy bills – in more than one language

Worried about your energy bills? The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has free, translated resources to help households and small businesses understand their energy options and get support if they’re struggling to pay.

Translated resources are also available in Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Hindi, Punjabi, Vietnamese, and more. These include:

  • Fact sheets on understanding and comparing energy plans
  • Flyers on consumer rights and hardship support

Amputees Qld invites community members to the final session in their “Staying Well” series, featuring Davinia Abbott, Social Prescribing Link Worker.

This session will focus on the importance of social connection and offer practical ways to support emotional and social wellbeing.

End-of-life information session and services hub

There’s a lot to consider before someone passes away, with many decisions to be made and this session brings together key experts to help.

Learn about accessing care and support, financial and legal advice, advance care planning, and spiritual support. Delivered with compassion and respect, this session will guide you through important decisions. After the talk, visit the hub stalls to connect with service providers and learn more.

Family Fun Day – Refugee Week celebration with SSI

Celebrate Refugee Week with a free Family Fun Day at Gould Adams Park, Kingston.

This event will shine a light on the journeys and contributions of people who have sought safety and a new life in Australia.

Hosted by Settlement Services International (SSI) and partners, the day will include fun activities for all ages and a chance to connect with community.

Eat the Rainbow - a deliciously fun workshop for curious kids!

Join nutritionist and Jamie Oliver Food Hero finalist Sammy Barnett for a hands-on workshop where food meets fun!

Kids aged 5–12 will explore how their bodies work, try colourful foods, and learn about healthy habits through games, taste tests, and a messy digestion demo.

Delivered as part of Logan City Council’s KRANK program, this high-energy session is perfect for curious kids who love to learn and laugh—no screens required! Bookings essential - limited spots available!

Funding Opportunities

Applications will open on 1 July for the Queensland Country Bank – Good For Good Community Grants.

Eligible not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply for funding of up to $30,000 to deliver projects that make a practical difference to the lives of people in Queensland communities - projects that help Queenslanders ‘live better’.

The grants support practical, community-focused initiatives that enable people to participate, connect, grow, learn, and feel safe.

Applications close: 31 August 2025

Expressions of interest are now open for The Balnaves Foundation Grants.

Eligible organisations are invited to apply for multi-year funding (typically $150,000–$250,000 per year) for projects in education, medicine, or the arts - especially those supporting young people, Indigenous Australians, or disadvantaged communities. Medical projects should focus on preventing or treating chronic health conditions in young Australians.

Applications close: No deadline – EOIs are accepted year-round.

Applications are now open for the Queensland Destination Events Program (QDEP) – Round 1.

Eligible events held between January 2026 and January 2027 can apply for funding through QDEP. Grants of up to $40,000 are available for events that attract visitors, boost local economies, and showcase Queensland destinations. New features include multi-year funding, support for Indigenous events, and streamlined application processes.

Applications are now open for the Dylan Alcott Foundation Grants

Young Australians aged 26 or under who live with disability can apply for funding to help achieve personal, professional, vocational or sporting goals.

Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Grants aim to build confidence, support potential, and help young people with disability achieve their dreams.

Applications close: No deadline – applications are accepted year-round.

Applications are now open for the 2025 Australia Post Community Grants Program.

Grants up to $10,000 are available to support community-led, local projects that connect individuals and communities to improve mental health and wellbeing. This year, additional grants are being offered to support disaster-impacted communities to enhance mental wellbeing by fostering connection and building resilience in communities recovering from natural disaster or a major storm event.

Applications are now open for the 2025 Looking After Country Grant Program.

First Nations organisations in Queensland can apply for up to $75,000 to support projects that conserve and manage environmental and cultural heritage on Country. Eligible activities include cultural site management, species monitoring, habitat restoration, fire and erosion control, and intergenerational knowledge sharing.

Applications close: 4pm AEST, 9 July 2025

Applications are now open for the Legacy: First Nations Multi-Year Project Fund.

This grant provides $150,000 over three years to support First Nations individuals, groups, and organisations in passing on cultural and artistic knowledge from elders to younger generations.

Projects must begin after 1 October 2025 and be community-appropriate in design and delivery. 

Applications close: 3pm AEST, 8 July 2025

Expressions of interest are now open for the 2025 Women & Change $50,000 Grant.

Eligible charities are invited to apply for funding for projects that are Queensland based, with grant funds primarily making a tangible and measurable difference to the quality of life of Queenslanders living in disadvantage and in need of support.

Applications are now open for Round 124 – Super Round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).

This is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program, offering up to $100,000 to not-for-profit groups for projects that enhance community wellbeing. The GCBF distributes approximately $60 million annually to support services, leisure activities, and opportunities across Queensland.
