The Principal, Council and St Andrew’s College community honour the life of John Simpson (Fr 1968) who passed away from prostate cancer on Friday 15th May, three weeks shy of his 70th birthday.
John resided at St Andrew's College from 1968-1971, whilst studying arts/ Law at the University of Sydney. He was a member of the Rawson Cricket team and Rawson Rugby team whilst at College. He was a member of the Sydney University Cricket
Club then later Scots College Old Boys Cricket Club (SOBCC), with its home ground fittingly at St Andrew's Oval. Cricket filled his summer Saturdays and rugby with the Kings Old Boys Rugby Club (alongside many Andrew's players), filled his winter Saturdays.
After completing his degree, John developed an expertise in Business Law, becoming a Senior Partner at Marsh, Harvey and Cropper, then with Clinch, Long and Woodbridge. His work was highly respected.
His two sons, Tom (Fr 2006) and Alex (Fr 2008) later followed in his footsteps and attended St Andrew's College as well.
The Simpson family are held strongly in our thoughts and our dearest sympathy is extended to all who knew him.
