Animal Care Services - Cage Process Technician

To support increased workforce inclusion of people with disabilities/diverse abilities at UBC, BC WiN is assisting again with recruitment for a Cage Processing Technician to work with the highly supportive Animal Care Services Team.  This position will be responsible for providing daily cleaning and maintenance tasks required for the health and cleanliness of research animals (primarily mice and rats) and their housing facilities within the Animal Care Services research facilities at UBC. The work includes an assortment of cleaning tasks, inspection, and repair of equipment and some routine lab work.

This is a unionized position that pays a starting hourly rate of $22.23, plus excellent benefits.  The employer prefers FT starting availability, however PT (3 days 8 hours per week) may also be possible after 3 months.

Overview of General Duties of the Position: 

  • Cleaning and preparation of cages, accessories, bottles, carts, and racks
  • Preparation and use of disinfectants and detergents
  • Cleaning, stocking and maintenance of lunchrooms, washrooms, showers, locker rooms, offices, instrument wash, loading bay and other common spaces
  • Complete required reports as needed
