Reflecting on fresh drinking water as a limited resource, attendees discussed what dimensions we should explore with the public to socialize the need for water reuse. The highlights of this conversation and summaries of all the previous Healthy Communities Conversations are available on our website. Healthy Homes & Healthy CommunitiesIn partnership with the Alberta Real Estate Foundation and with support of diverse stakeholders across Alberta, the Centre for Healthy Communities developed the Healthy Homes and Healthy Communities website to advance discussion and action on healthy homes and healthy communities for Albertans. The user-friendly website is meant to support stakeholders (e.g., homebuyers, real estate agents, developers) in developing a common language and knowledge about the key factors around healthy communities and homes in Alberta. The website combines scientific and practice-based evidence. Related to the Healthy Homes & Healthy Communities website, a report was created to summarize the literature review on evidence-informed resources and recommendations to support healthy home- and healthy community-related decision-making in Canada. The Policy Readiness Tool: Assessing Readiness for Policy ChangeDeveloping healthy public policy is a key strategy for improving public health. The Policy Readiness Tool is an evidence-based, practitioner-oriented tool that was designed to increase the capacity of local actors to encourage healthy public policy development. The tool contains a series of strategies and accompanying resources that align with your community or organization's level of readiness for policy change. The Policy Readiness Tool was created by Dr. Candace Nykiforuk and her PLACE Research Lab team (Dr. Nykiforuk is also the Scientific Director and lead of the Healthy Municipalities and Workplaces Thematic Area in the Centre for Healthy Communities). |
