Professor David Walker received the WMR Researcher of the Year award

Chief Patron of Wesley Medical Research, the Governor of Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, presented Professor David Walker with the WMR Researcher of the Year award on 3 May 2018 at Government House. 

This prestigious award was presented to Professor Walker for initiating and leading sustained research to understand & treat aggressive forms of brain cancer.

Professor Walker is leading research that WMR is supporting to help glioblastoma patients including:

• a recently completed trial of a novel immunotherapy treatment for brain cancer
• a continuing clinical trial to reduce tumour recurrence and ultimately provide effective treatment  by combining immunotherapy strategies 
• a new project to research the repurposing of common drugs for pre-treating glioblastoma.

Happy 1 year Anniversary - Dr Norman Ma

Happy anniversary to Dr Norman Ma! It was one year ago this month that Dr Ma joined the BrizBrain & Spine team.

Dr Ma works as a neurosurgical consultant specialist at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He also works as a specialist paediatric neurosurgeon at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital as a Visiting Medical Officer.
