Click here 10 November 2022Cr Matthew Blackmore, Mayor of Strathfield This week's Homebush Public School Traffic Safety Showcase was a fantastic initiative from one of our local schools to tackle traffic and pedestrian safety around their school. There were some amazing and innovative videos, signage ideas and strategies to help tackle this local issue. Thank you to all the students, parents and teachers who attended In the lead-up to Christmas, I have been visiting many local religious organisations across the Strathfield Council Area to reconnect the community with our churches as we are nearing such an important time of year. Thank you to those who I have met so far, and I look forward to meeting more. On another note, Council has been performing its due diligence by reviewing our assets such as roads, footpaths and parks, and ensuring we have sustainable funding for maintenance. Unfortunately, there appears to be gaps that have developed during previous administrations over several years. Council will be making some tough decisions in the coming months to ensure residents continue to receive quality services. Resident feedback will be vital in this process, so please keep up-to-date with us on social media and the eNews. If you need help with any local issues, please feel free to contact me at 0406 099 048 or cr.mblackmore@strathfield.nsw.gov.au. Christmas Carols is back! Unlike the other casualties, Pilot Officer Richard Wiesener died on Australian soil in the Canberra Air Disaster of 13 August 1940 that altered the course of Australian political history. All ten passengers and crew were killed, including three Federal Cabinet Ministers and the Chief of the General Staff. Wiesener had been the second pilot that day.
