Improvements to panel payment methodology coming soon
Doctors of BC and BC Family Doctors have been working together over the past few years to ensure the LFP payment model continues to reflect the realities of modern family practice.
As part of this continuous improvement work, and guided by physician feedback, the LFP panel payment will transition to a new calculation methodology, expected to begin with the July 1 to September 30 payment period. The expected first payment calculated under this new methodology will be paid to physicians on November 30, 2026 (payment period July 1 to September 30, 2026).
Before October 1, 2026, please ensure you:
-
Review and update your PAS panel
-
Add new patients to your panel by submitting 98990
-
Remove patients from your panel as required
-
Clean up MRP statuses noted as “Pending” or “Not the MRP”

Doctors of BC: Share your input: The role of AI in reducing the burden of third-party reporting
As part of Doctors of BC’s ongoing efforts to reduce administrative burdens for physicians, we are inviting members to share their experiences with completing common third-party reporting forms, specifically ICBC initial visit reports and WorkSafeBC Form 8/11, as well as their perspectives on the potential of AI-powered documentation tools to improve workflow efficiency.
Participants will be asked to complete two questionnaires, one in late April and another in late June, focusing on their experiences before and after using an AI scribe. Each questionnaire should take no more than 30 minutes, and members will be compensated at the current sessional rate. The feedback we receive will directly inform our efforts to reduce administrative burdens for physicians.
If you have questions, please reach out to digitalhealth@doctorsofbc.ca. To learn more about how Doctors of BC advocates to reduce the time physicians spend dealing with administrative burdens, visit their Administrative Burdens webpage.
If you are interested in participating, please fill out this expression of interest form by April 22, 2026
