Principal's NewsTERM 4Dear valued member of the PLC community, As we commence what will undoubtedly be a very busy term ahead, I welcome all students and families back to school. I do hope that the holiday period has provided the opportunity to spend time with immediate family and to break from normal term-time routines. Term 4 is a traditionally busy and exciting time in our school calendar, particularly for our 2022 Leavers who will officially graduate at their Valedictory Service next Thursday. For each of our Year 12 students, this time of year tends to be one filled with mixed emotions as the excitement of life after school collides with leaving behind the security of the routines that come with being a school student. With a number of events planned for our Year 12 cohort next week, we all look forward to the opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge a wonderful group of young people who will be greatly missed by all. While there is always a sense of sadness at saying goodbye to our Year 12 cohort, we also farewell them knowing that they will each be leaving school to embrace the exciting opportunities that come with entering that next phase of life. As Principal, the week ahead is one in that I know I will be filled with pride as we take the opportunity to acknowledge the contribution that each and every member of the 2022 cohort has made to the life of our school. To Year 12, you have certainly made your mark and you leave our school community better for having had the opportunity to spend our days with you. I do encourage each of you to remain connected to the College through the Old Collegains' Association and look forward to hearing of your individual stories, progress, and journeys through life. You may leave PLC next week, but PLC will never leave you and you will remain a valued member of our community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Edwina Mactier (Head Prefect), Sophya Thomas (Deputy Head Prefect), and our Student Prefects for their leadership of the school this year. As a team, they consistently demonstrated strong character, humility, and humour as they role-modelled our school values. Following the Valedictory Service recognising Year 12, we will move immediately to the induction of our 2023 Year 12 cohort as the leaders of our school. I have no doubt that Lucy Correia (Head Prefect), Libby Hutton (Deputy Head Prefect), our student prefect team, and our Year 12 cohort as a whole will build on all that has been achieved in 2022 to provide great leadership of our school over the next twelve months. This will be the first week in a busy and exciting term and I look forward to seeing community members at the many events ahead of us. ![]() We are also very excited to announce we will be a Partner School with the University of Western Australia as of February next year. UWA will pilot its new UWA Starter programme designed for senior secondary students. It provides students the opportunity to participate in a new and innovative micro-credential programme. Participating students may also stack micro-credentials and gain credit for one or more units when commencing an undergraduate degree at UWA. UWA will join Curtin University’s Innovative Schools Scholars Programme and UWA’s Girls in Engineering programme as one of the many extension opportunities already available to PLC students. I know I speak on behalf of all the teaching and administration staff at PLC when I say we look forward to welcoming everyone back on campus on Tuesday.
