Learn about the Gold Coast's natural environment and what we're doing to protect it on our website.

Issue #19: In this week's edition, we're bringing you details on how you can get involved this World Environment Day, ways you can connect with your community and get to know your neighbour, as well as inviting you to this year's Monster Machinery Day.

World Environment Day

Get involved this World Environment Day

Sunday 5 June marks the largest international day for the environment, World Environment Day. Make a difference to our environment and network with like-minded people by volunteering in one of the many programs on offer around the city. To get you started, why not join one of our upcoming NaturallyGC sessions:

Green Day Out Tree Planting

Celebrate World Environment Day on Saturday 4 June with our NaturallyGC team. Lend a helping hand planting 1500 trees along the Albert River with our Green Day Out. No experience is necessary to join. Register to secure a spot.

Winter Plants for Wildlife Tree Planting
Join the Friends of Federation Walk on Saturday 11 June and help to plant 3000 winter flowering native plants to support a variety of animals including possums, grey-headed flying fox, birds and more. Register to secure your place and for further location details.

Get to know your neighbour

Get to know your neighbours

Knowing your neighbours is a great way to create safe communities where we look out for one another.

We encourage you to get to know your neighbours at any time of year, whether it's through a friendly knock at the door with an invite for tea, a phone call, a message of support, an offer to help in the garden or by assisting with a grocery drop off.

You can connect with other residents by:

Good neighbours build great neighbourhoods. Help create a sense of belonging in an inclusive community today.

Monster Machinery Day

Monster Machinery Day

Monster Machinery Day is back! Head over to the Southern Lawn Parklands on Sunday 29 May from 9am to 3pm to check out everything that digs, scoops, cleans and beeps.

Join the free family fun to see displays of over 50+ vehicles and machines that help build and maintain our city. Explore favourites like excavators, loaders, tip trucks, road sweepers, tractors, quad bikes, emergency vehicles and so much more.

There'll be free activities on offer including live machinery demonstrations, a Hot Wheels display, face painting, and a giant sand pit. And let's not forget your favourite food trucks. Check out the map to plan your day ahead of time.

Catch the G:Link to Broadwater Parklands, or if you live locally why not walk, ride, scoot or skate to the event.
