It’s less than two weeks until my newest thriller, The Last to Vanish, is officially out in stores on Tuesday, July 26th! This book is set in a small mountain resort town with a very mysterious history: over the last 25 years, seven visitors to the area have vanished without a trace — most recently, a journalist staying at a local inn, who was investigating the string of unsolved disappearances. The story is narrated by a woman named Abby who manages The Passage Inn and suddenly finds herself as the one person willing to dig deeper into the town’s hidden secrets. You can watch the trailer for it here: ![]() It’s always such an exciting moment to see the finished copy of one of my books for the first time! Keep reading for more about the book, pre-order links, and my upcoming in-person tour schedule. I’ve been so thrilled to see the wonderful reviews the book has been getting in the lead-up to publication! “[A] superb thriller…Evocative descriptions of such activities as hiking and rafting contain an underlying sense of dread, and realistic characters match the tight plotting. Miranda is writing at the top of her game.” “This eerie thriller…can stand next to Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House and Stephen King’s The Shining.” "Clever... Cutter's Pass is rife with secrets... all of which Miranda brings skillfully to light. The Last to Vanish is a well-wrought example of how important timing can be to a thriller." "The Last to Vanish is Megan Miranda at her finest: an eerie edge-of-the-earth location, riveting characters, and thrills that just don't quit. Loved this novel." I’m also very honored that The Last to Vanish has been chosen for the LibraryReads Hall of Fame list for July, and as an Indie Next Pick for August. Huge thank you to all the libraries and independent bookstores for the wonderful support! OUT TUESDAY, July 26th: THE LAST TO VANISHNew York Times bestselling author Megan Miranda returns with a gripping and propulsive thriller that opens with the disappearance of a journalist who is investigating a string of vanishings in the resort town of Cutter’s Pass. Will its dark secrets finally be revealed? Ten years ago, Abigail Lovett fell into a job she loves, managing The Passage Inn, a cozy, upscale resort nestled in the North Carolina mountain town of Cutter’s Pass. Cutter’s Pass is best known for its outdoor offerings — rafting and hiking, with access to the Appalachian trail by way of a gorgeous waterfall — and its mysterious history. As the book begins, the string of unsolved disappearances that has haunted the town is once again thrust into the spotlight when journalist Landon West, who was staying at the inn to investigate the story of the vanishing trail, then disappears himself. Abby has sometimes felt like an outsider within the community, but she’s come to view Cutter’s Pass as her home. When Landon’s brother Trey shows up looking for answers, Abby can’t help but feel the town closing ranks. And she’s still on the outside. When she finds incriminating evidence that may bring them closer to the truth, Abby soon discovers how little she knows about her coworkers, neighbors and even those closest to her. Megan Miranda brings her best writing to The Last to Vanish, a riveting thriller filled with taut suspense and shocking twists that will keep you guessing until the very end. NOW IN PAPERBACK: SUCH A QUIET PLACELast month, Such a Quiet Place also came out in paperback! We had no warning that she’d come back. Hollow’s Edge used to be a quiet place. A private and idyllic neighborhood where neighbors dropped in on neighbors, celebrated graduation and holiday parties together, and looked out for one another. But then came the murders of Brandon and Fiona Truett. A year and a half later, Hollow’s Edge is simmering. The residents are trapped, unable to sell their homes, confronted daily by the empty Truett house, and suffocated by their trial testimonies that implicated one of their own. Ruby Fletcher. And now, Ruby’s back. With her conviction overturned, Ruby waltzes right back to Hollow’s Edge, and into the home she once shared with Harper Nash. Harper, five years older, has always treated Ruby like a wayward younger sister. But now she’s terrified. What possible good could come of Ruby returning to the scene of the crime? And how can she possibly turn her away, when she knows Ruby has nowhere to go? Within days, suspicion spreads like a virus across Hollow’s Edge. It’s increasingly clear that not everyone told the truth about the night of the Truett murders. And when Harper begins receiving threatening notes, she realizes she has to uncover the truth before someone else becomes the killer’s next victim. Pulsating with suspense and with the shocking twists that are Megan Miranda’s trademark, Such a Quiet Place is Megan Miranda’s best novel yet — a twisty locked-box thriller that will keep you turning pages late into the night.
