If you have met Mechele, you would know why she has received this prestigious award. Thank you, Mechele for your energy, passion and commitment to your school community. Last week, Councilors attended the Australian Local Government Conference in Canberra. This annual conference is held yearly with attendees from across the nation. We debated over 300 motions in our business papers ranging from climate change issues, fire and flood initiatives to childcare, development and greener spaces. We were truly fortunate to have Prime Minister Anthony Albanese address the conference, announcing a $100M Community Energy Upgrades Fund for Local Government. This new fund has been developed to enable local government to deliver energy upgrades and bill savings for community facilities like local sporting clubs and community centres. Local Community Groups celebrated Dragon Boat Festival and International Yoga Day over the weekend. It is always an honour to represent Council at these events, which highlight our fantastic multicultural area. If you are interested in becoming a member of one of these groups, please contact our office for more information. As always, please contact me with any of your council requests or news on cr.kpensabene@strathfield.nsw.gov.au Strathfield Youth Survey If you or someone you know is aged between 12-24 years old, we want to hear from you!
