Recently, I took the opportunity to gain insight into the workings of our Council Customer Service Office by spending an afternoon listening to and understanding how our calls to Council are handled. The “In Your Shoes” program Council has created, allows Councillors and Directors to spend time with our officers and staff, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges they face. Having spent two hours with the customer service team, I am proud to report that our officers exhibited professionalism and expertise in all areas. It was heartening to hear about the positive impact they have in addressing residents’ concerns. This Sunday marks the International Day of Disability, and in recognition of this day, we are organising a BBQ at Strathfield Library tomorrow from 12.00pm to 2.30pm. This day aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities across all levels of society and development. It also serves to raise awareness of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in political, social economic and cultural aspects of life. I encourage all of you to join us on Friday to show support for this meaningful initiative. Last Friday we celebrated our remarkable Strathfield volunteers with a high tea at our Town Hall. We expressed our gratitude to all attendees who go above and beyond to help our Council foster a community of friendship and camaraderie. Speakers from our Strathfield SES and the NSW Centre for Volunteering highlighted five real benefits of volunteering: gaining new skills, promote mental and physical health and wellbeing, giving back to the community and improving confidence. If you are interested in being part of this wonderful group of people, contact our customer service and add your name to the list. Remember, you can contribute as little or as much as you’d like, and it’s a rewarding experience for everyone involved. If you have any further questions or need to contact me, please feel free to email me at cr.kpensabene@stratfhield.nsw.gov.au or reach out to our customer service at 9748 9999.
