Influencing Employers Symposium

It Pays to Care (IPTC) is a call for change and action to improve health and recovery outcomes and reduce barriers to care for people experiencing work injuries.

On 31 August, WorkCover WA General Manager Regulatory Services Rebecca Harris attended the IPTC Influencing Employers Symposium in Adelaide.

The symposium explored how insurers and regulators can influence employers as the way workplaces approach injuries is a key driver of case outcomes. Attendees discussed what barriers exist, and how to overcome these barriers and influence employers to create lasting change.

Working with Medical Specialists

 Peer Review Session

Approved Medical Specialists play an important role in the WA workers’ compensation scheme by assessing an injured worker’s degree of whole person impairment caused by workplace injuries.

Facilitated by independent occupational physician Dr Steven Overmeire, attendees worked through case studies and discussed assessment methodologies, noting areas of potential error and ambiguity.

We look forward to hosting more opportunities for development and connection between industry specialists throughout the coming year.

Celebrating diversity

Wear it Purple Day

On August 25, WorkCover WA staff, led by members of our Mandi Mart (youth action group), wore purple in support of LGBTQIA+ youth.

Wear it Purple Day is an international initiative promoting support and acceptance of LGBTQIA+ youth, and start important conversations that challenge preconceptions about sexuality, sex and gender.

WorkCover WA celebrates the diversity of our workforce and strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all staff can thrive.
