Thank you, and well done! As we close the book on Term 1, the DDD team sends a heartfelt thank you to all education officials and EMIS teams across the provinces for their hard work and support over the past (very busy!) few months. Besides guiding another cohort of learners through the start of their next academic year, you have embraced the roll out of the new Valistractor, with more than 11 000 schools already using it to submit data to the DDD Dashboard.

For a refresher on how to install and use the new Valistractor, why not join next week’s Valistractor webinar session (click here to book a seat)? We’re also hosting a webinar on how to access and use DDD via your mobile phone (click here to book) – which is ideal if you want to keep track of your data while you’re away from your desk this Easter holiday.

In this special “end-of-term” edition of DataPoint we highlight the numerous enhancements made to the DDD Dashboard since January. We also see which provinces have been the most active on DDD over the past term. Keep reading to find out more!

While several provinces have a well-planned schedule of data initiatives lined up for Term 2, others have made a head start by actively drawing insights from the DDD Dashboard in the first few months of the year. Well done to the provinces below for a strong start – we look forward to seeing how these numbers change in the months ahead!

GAUTENG   LIMPOPO   EASTERN CAPE   MPUMALANGA
Gauteng leads the 2024 data journey with 2 102 officials (27% of the province’s registered DDD user base) accessing the dashboard in Term 1.   Catching up quickly is Limpopo, with 1 473 officials (23% of registered users) using the dashboard since the start of the year.   With 1 115 active officials in Term 1 (19% of the province’s registered DDD users) Eastern Cape is gathering momentum!   Mpumalanga is fourth, with 868 active users, but takes first place in terms of percentages, with 28% of registered DDD users being active in Term 1.

More attendance detail
The first enhancement made to the dashboard this year was the inclusion of Previous Year Promotion details in the Learner Information data download. You can now see how each learner performed at the end of the previous year, who was promoted or progressed in a subject, grade or entity, and adjust interventions, teaching plans and targets accordingly.   If you have approved PI access, you can easily identify educators in the dashboard’s Educator Information Report data download, as this now includes Personal Information (PI data). Find it by clicking on the PI button on the Reports page. If you need to apply for PI access, click here to download and complete the form, and email it to help@dbedashboard.co.za.   The Term to Date dashboard page has a new button in the attendance section, showing Absent Educators Information. This is only visible to users who have the relevant level of approved PI access, but it enables officials and principals to identify and follow up with specific educators who are absent (as opposed to the dashboard only displaying the number thereof).

…use new Valistractor
One of the key indicators on the Term to Date dashboard page is how many learners have been absent for a set number of days. This has been changed to reflect learners absent for three or more consecutive days (as opposed to four-plus non-consecutive days), in line with DBE policy. Click here to check it out.   Certain inconsistencies have been successfully resolved to ensure that submissions and dates are correctly represented on the Term to Date page of the dashboard. It also ensures that the Week Ending table on this page presents an accurate view of the number of schools that have submitted their latest weekly submissions.   More than 11 000 schools are successfully submitting data via the new Valistractor, and the DDD team continues to work closely with EMIS to support officials. If you need Valistractor assistance from the Helpdesk, follow these tips to ensure you give the team all the info they need to resolve your query quickly.
