National Reconciliation WeekNational Reconciliation Week: Bridging Now to Next National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about their shared histories, cultures, and achievements. This year's theme, "Bridging Now to Next," encourages everyone to look ahead while learning from the past. From 27 May to 3 June, all are invited to join in building a more united and respectful nation, continuing the journey started by Corroboree 2000. You can support reconciliation in many ways. A good starting point is to look at the Reconciliation Australia website to understand the meaning of reconciliation. By exploring Council's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community webpage linked below, you will find plenty of information on local resources to support your learning journey. ![]() Opportunities2025 QCOSS Town Hall: Logan Queensland Council of Social Service Ltd (QCOSS) is currently holding Town Hall events across Queensland. Workers in community organisations are invited to join them at the Town Hall event in Logan to discuss emerging issues in our neighbourhood, including cost of living pressures and housing. The QCOSS team will also share the latest data on our region, talk about workforce development and how they can support your organisation to attract and retain the team you need. It often gets pushed to the bottom of the to-do list, but it's essential for shaping future outcomes. The Institute of Community Directors Australia (ICDA) invites you to an interactive training session to help build a clear, effective, and achievable strategic plan. Join the Griffith University Repair Café to help communities repair and reuse their belongings. Whether it's mending clothes or fixing toys and furniture, repairing brings joy, saves money, and reduces waste. New repairers, menders, and helpers are welcome to join. Justice Connect is offering an insightful webinar to help not-for-profit organisations manage psychosocial hazards. The session will cover legal obligations, practical steps to protect workers and recent regulatory actions. Delivered in plain language by a lawyer, attendees will receive practical examples and tips to help them feel more confident in protecting the mental health and safety of their staff and volunteers. Registrations are now open for the 2025 Logan Fun Run, presented by Ray White AKG, taking place on Sunday 8 June, at Griffith University's Logan Campus. When: Every second Friday of the month from 3pm to 4:30pm ![]() Funding OpportunitiesApplications are now open to eligible organisations for the St. George Foundation Thrive Community Grants. These grants offer up to $50,000 to support the social and emotional wellbeing of children and young people, by providing opportunities to connect and participate in community life. These grants are aimed at smaller, local charities that engage with children and young people facing significant barriers to reaching their potential. Applications close: 30 May 2025 Applications are now open for the Bupa Foundation Community Grants. Community organisations have the opportunity to share in a total of $600,000 in grants, aimed at supporting programs that contribute positively to mentally healthy and sustainable societies. Funding of up to $10,000 is available for initiatives that align to one or more of the Bupa Foundation’s focus areas: Healthy minds - building mentally healthy and resilient communities Healthy planet, healthy people - supporting a healthy planet for healthy people Applications close: 5pm AEST, 6 June 2025 Expressions of interest are now open for the Strengthening Family-Centred Collaborations Grant Round. This grant, offered by the Paul Ramsay Foundation, provides $600,000 over three years ($200,000 per annum) to support eligible organisations working together to provide long-term support for families experiencing domestic and family violence.
