Grants available

to deliver better outcomes for young children

Grants of up to $100,000 will soon be available for Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services in Western Australia (WA) to develop programs that facilitate early learning and development and support children to transition to school.

The grants will improve access and participation in affordable, quality preschool and kindergarten programs and deliver better outcomes for:

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children
• living in regional, remote and very remote communities
• experiencing significant disadvantage
• from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
•  in the care of the CEO, Department of Communities (Communities)

The grants have been made available to the ECEC sector in WA for the first time through a funding boost of over $1 million from the Commonwealth Government, which will be delivered through the Preschool Reform Agreement.

Communities has entered a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Education to enable the distribution of funding to flow to all ECEC settings.

The Supporting Children in ECEC WA grants will be administered by Child Australia, and all ECEC services in WA, approved under the Education and Care Service National Law (WA) Act 2012, are eligible to apply.

The first round of grant applications will close on 24 November 2023. Additional rounds will be offered until all the funds are distributed.
