Dear Residents, Have you noticed Council recently completed works at the intersection of Burlington Road and Rochester Street in Homebush Town Centre? This consisted of a new raised pedestrian wombat crossing, landscaped kerb extensions to enforce 1-way traffic flow, line marking, new tactile plates, additional landscaping, and the addition of a compliant pram ramp to existing accessible parking. I'd like to thank all Council staff involved in bringing this project to life as it has improved pedestrian safety and public amenity in the heart of Homebush. Our yearly Share the Dignity Morning Tea is taking place in Strathfield Town Hall on Tuesday 9 December 2025. Whilst the lead up to Christmas is an exciting time for some it can be a period of hardship for others, and this initiative helps make this period a little easier for women in need. If you haven't registered yet, you can do so via this link. Lastly, I was delighted to award 18 recipients for this year’s Community Grants Program last Friday which will all aim to deliver activities that meet the needs of residents and improve wellbeing in our local area. From these grants we will see organisations manage interactive workshops, local history performances, disability training for staff, sports coaching pathways for girls, a learn to swim program, and much more. This annual grant program opens applications on 1 June and closes on 31 July. For more information, please visit our website. If you need to contact me or have any questions, please do so by emailing me cr.bcai@strathfield.nsw.gov.au or ring our office on 9748 9999.

Courtesy State Library of NSW Wynola Estate, 1925 Bounded by Newton, Chalmers, Barker and Yarmouth (now Wallis Avenue) Roads, the 16 lots of the Wynola Estate were subdivided and offered for sale 100 years ago on 21 November 1925. Lot 15 comprised the original grand house Wynola, and tennis court, built by wealthy merchant Leonard Keep c.1894. The 15 vacant lots were marketed as ‘fine villa sites’ and buyers were assured that the roads were ‘well formed.’ Thirteen lots were immediately sold at prices ranging from £8 to £13 per foot. Total sales were £10,100, including the house. Wynola was later known locally as the ‘white house.
