Rested employees are good for business

Around the world every year in September the matter of mental wellbeing and suicide prevention is highlighted in a bid to reduce the statistics.

On 10 September we took time to reflect on World Suicide Prevention Day and the importance of suicide prevention in our industry. MATES in Mining reports that one miner loses their life to suicide every two days in Australia – an alarming statistic.

This month we were honoured to attend the CFMEU Northern Mining & NSW Energy District 24th Annual Memorial Day Service which remembers more than 1,800 employees who have lost their lives to coal mining in the Northern District Coalfields.

Having the conversation about mental health and suicide is not just important, but critical. We’ve provided helpful tips and links to resources in our article on employee wellbeing this issue to help equip employers for building a resilient workforce.
